Welcome to our Set the Table Series, where we show you easy ways of creating table settings for various occasions. Whether it be a summer BBQ, birthday celebration or Christmas dinner, we hope to inspire you to create your own fabulous table setting at home.
Here, we create an Australian Native inspired table setting, using all natural materials from our range. Native flora is certainly on trend at the moment and we couldn’t resist theming a table around it! This table setting would be ideal for a casual birthday celebration or Australia Day get together.
Our Summer 18 Collection includes several pieces that are inspired by our native birds and the colours of the Australian landscape, designed to bring the outdoors in. The Wave, Protea, Kookaburra and Cockatoo cushions are perfect accessories for this setting.
What you will need to create this look:
Moss Natural Linen Tablecloth
Moss Blush Linen Napkins
Cruz Mink Placemats
Cucina Rosa Kitchen Towel (used as runners)
Kookaburra & Cockatoo Cushions
Wave Blush & Eucalyptus Cushions
Small Eucalyptus/Gumnut bunches
White/off white ceramic plates
Lay down a Moss Natural linen tablecloth as the base. Pure linen has a beautiful drape and crinkled texture, which adds to the relaxed and casual feel of this table.
Gather your favourite native Eucalyptus leaves. You can source these from your local florist, or your own backyard if you have a tree. We’ve laid the leaves all facing the one direction, however you could also split them down the middle and have them going in opposite directions (this is great if you have a cake as a centerpiece).
Lay down each Cruz placemat and layer with the Cucina Rosa kitchen towels, plates and napkins.
Finish each place setting with a cutting of gumnuts, flowering eucalyptus or proteas – get creative with your native flora!
Add your cutlery & glassware (see notes below on placement).
Make your guests feel extra comfortable by adding some of our Wave, Cockatoo & Kookaburra cushions to each chair.
Lay the eucalyptus leaves as flat as possible so you can sit your salad bowls and platters on top. Alternatively, you can dot the eucalyptus leaves through the centre of the table, and place your servingware in the gaps.
Your tablecloth doesn’t need to be ironed to perfection, in fact it’s better to leave it crinkled and textured. The Cucina kitchen towels & Moss napkins however, will be easier to work with if ironed into place.
If you want to add some more colour, lay some wattle, flowering gums or proteas on top of the eucalyptus in the centre of the table.
We’ve chosen Moss Natural as the base colour and Blush for the accessories, but feel free to mix and match the coloured tablelinen as you please. Our Moss Ash or Seafoam tablelinen would also work beautifully.
Remember: The forks go on the left and the knives go on the right, with the sharp side of the knife pointed towards the plate. Water and/or wine glasses go just above the knife. For a more formal setting, the bread plate goes to the left of the fork.
